Camp 2 OBS [Behind the boat shed]
A few hours before leaving this place – OBS. Now I like this place very much as this is another place I can find another group of friends can help each other.

This morning we wake up and went to brush our teeth and then pack the stuff in the store. Stocktaking it and went to buy souvenirs at the boat shed. They have many nice clothes design and books. But not enough money so didn’t buy. After that, we went to meet our instructor and she told us to draw a picture of what are you feeling now, and I drew this. A picture that is very ugly but to myself. I don’t know when I will put up. Maybe one day.

And I wrote a sentence at the bottom. ‘OBS JOURNEY YEH!!!’

Camp 2 OBS [Floating Pontoon] 10.38pm

Last night, we going to spend on this pontoon. We have a deep briefing on the ultimate challenge [the main agenda finally arrived in our camp] to us in a serious state. Being thrown to us we must complete it.

4 of our friends were elected. Guess who this people are. “Foreigners!” I hate it! Sucks! Never mind. 4 of them were elected to be the leader of this challenge and they’re going to lead us back to camp 2 in a detour situation. What I mean by detour situation? It is to go by the long way back to camp 2 not by walking or hiking by kayaking. One of the leader was Francis – one of my group members in the group but not only that he was one of the partner in the kayaking also.

So I was praying to the Gohonzon said that “can I be the front man, as I want to see the scenery first, I want to see how is feel to go on a sea journey as a navigator. This sea journey or called the ultimate challenge was to ask to make a diamond shape so that the ships at the ‘expressway’ can see us in their radar. So my kayak happens to be the navigator where the leader supposed to be and 1 kayak will be at the left hand side. This kayak needs to estimate the distance of the kayak and the shoreline about 50meters – called the port side. The other will be at the right hand side called the star-board. The job is to keep them close so that it will not spread out to the main sea. Last but not least we have the sweeper to encourage the slower one to be faster.

The distance was estimated about 14.5km from camp 3 detouring around Pulau Ubin and we needed to set off at 6.30pm in the morning. Slept less than 3 hours because of the pressure that my bladder gave, I have made the rest of the kayak finished the whole journey in a very good record. In the early morning we need to do centuries duties. What are this duties for? It is to prevent the dogs that we have around us to come closer to the tents.

After finishing 45 minutes, we went back to sleep for another 30mins. Getting ready for the ultimate challenge. By the way, we didn’t bathe that night, we only have a shower bathe.
After finishing unpitch the tents, we have a quick breakfast before setting out. We were in the sea for almost 4 and a half hours kayaking back to camp 2 before lunch time. We did it in the end! Congrats everyone! After everyone reach the shore, we wash the kayak before putting back.

We have a good day doing kayaking after all, I also quarrel a lot with foreigner – Marita on the kayak.

Activities for the whole day: 1. Kayaking. 2. Lunch. 3. Pitch tents. 4. Cooking. 5. Night walk.

Talking back to cooking, I told you the boys and especially me were angry about the food. We cook the last dinner in OBS. I did revenge. I told the soup and hide it. After the girls finish eating I purposely cook the soup in front of them before eating up. Haha I was the only one that is the happiest of all. You see how evil I am!

Night walk is also another activity I like; I can’t even see anything in the dark as we blindfolded walking into the forest.

Camp 3 OBS [no more nice pontoon only have a dirt seashore] 8.15pm

Tonight is the dirtiest night I ever face in the camp or everyone face in the camp. After we have eaten our last breakfast at the high class place, we proceeded on to the second part of the camp agenda that is hiking. Late yesterday, I saw some of my schoolmates came hiking into camp 1 with all the big haversacks. Therefore, we assume that we will be doing the same going back to camp 2 with all our bags. We started hiking once we finished unpitching the tents and pack our stuffs. But we were all wrong; we were given some points to plot at one of the checkpoints. The place that we were going to is not camp 2 but another place.

This make us even excited event the journey of carrying the heavy haversacks. We hiked all the way for 3 hours with some rest in between. We heard that the hiking place is very deserted and the changi airport can be seen.

Last time I used to like hiking very much especially going into forests in the summer when you will not swear but this hiking made you sweat and made you tired. Carrying stupid heavy things. Now then I realized that hiking is not a fun activities neither.

Oh god! Finally we reached the deserted destination, the whole team especially the “foreigners” lost all the energy. Asked the “foreigners” to do some stuff but cannot be done in the end. But I told myself to calm down, I will do it.

After that, we went into the tent and did some journal writing before meeting the instructor. There is some activities we done in the morning and I find that all those are team building games so no point writing down because I am busy killing the ants and insects.

So some activities that we done for the whole day: 1. Captain’s ball. 2. Plank [half of the team moving on the plank of woods]. 3. Hiking. 4. Rescuer. 5. Tent pitching. 6. Cooking. 7. Sleeping.

Talking about the cooking, I am angry. When we were asking and separating the jobs to finish the tasks, the girls were told to cook and the boys were to help to pitch the tents. Finishing pitching the last second tent I went to kpo to find out the girls cooking. They have almost finishing the cooking but the boys haven’t. so I told them to eat first, you guess what they did? They went on to open the cans of Ikan Billes and eat. Never mind. But the boys haven’t eaten and they almost finishing. Then I went to ask them if there is any extra they told me none. But when we went back to camp 2 that will be the next day, I found out that we still have 2 cans of Ikan Billes. Imagine how angry I am in the camp with the foreigners, but only some…

Camp 2 OBS Jetty [Floating Pontoon] 9.40pm

Today the activities are interesting and closely packed. All this activities are to challenge your fear level and overcoming your height fear. Instructor said, either you want to do or don’t want, you will not be forced, but before rejecting please think. “Is it worthy to reject? Do you want to challenge yourself to the highest?” ask yourself this question.

In the morning, we have a serious disciplinary punishment by the instructor of Cousteau and Cook. They were scolding of us not being puncture before we have our breakfast. We were needed to finish the morning BEX – morning basic Exercise.

Worse of all the activities were the “Jetty Jump” and “Kayaking”. These 2 activities really killing me because I hated water. But I thought of the 2 questions that our instructor asked so I decided to jump and kayak.

Then in the evening almost reaching night time, we were going to a jetty before going for our Supper in a very nice place where camp 1 is. It is just like resort here, we have people to serve us meals and good place with fans and table not like the previous night. Just like the meals at Spark C camp. We have 2 games, one of the game is puzzle game and the other was the zoom in game where everyone needs to use communication to finish and complete the game at a certain timing. The zoom in game was the best of all, this make the whole team strengthening the teamwork spirits.

After supper, we proceed to the pontoon of camp 1. It is nice as the tide brought the pontoon towards the sky. Then we have a nice rest where tent is facing the sea.

Activities that we have done on the day: 1. Morning BEX. 2. Breakfast. 3. Kayaking Training 4. Jetty jump. 5. Kayaking to Camp 1. 6. Rock climbing. 7. Tent pitching. 8. Dinner. 9. Jig-saw puzzle. 10. Zoom in picture. 11. Sleeping.

And i am a Sponge and a Kayak as i feel that, a person must be like a Sponge to abosorb all the things you have learn in this new place and bring back to share with others. I like to be freedom so I decided to sail in the sea eventhought i hate water.

Camp 2 OBS Jetty [Floating Pontoon] 9.14pm
Early in the morning, we meet in school before going to our camp destination – Pulau Ubin. Waited for so long for the boat at Puggol Jetty. After 45 minutes, finally saw a boat coming towards us. We reached the deserted – Pulau Ubin Camp 2.

We were separated into groups and all the valuables including house key, are to be handed over to the instructor. Leaving behind the comfort zone is not easy, but we must still do it.

I remembered one of the sensei guidance that Daisaku Ikeda gave, “youth must have a heart like a lion, overcoming all the obstacles and roar like a lion…” therefore, we must be strong and overcome all the obstacles no matter what happen.

After separating and making around of introducing, we were told to take a group picture. So I told the instructor, can we take another one at the end as we want to see the front results and the end results of OBS. Unfortunately, the picture we took at the end was accidentally deleted by Shawn. Cursed him!

Some activities we done over there. 1. Blade of grass. 2. Trust fall. 3. Belaying at a height of 3 meters. 4. Tent pitching. 5. Cooking.

It is quite a relax day. Smiley face!!!
